Good to Know

Frequently asked questions.

Pashupatinath is a UNESCO World Heritage pagoda temple on the banks of the Bagmati River in Kathmandu, Nepal, dedicated to Lord Shiva as Pashupati, "Lord of the Animals." It is one of the most sacred Shiva temples in the world.

Yes. Select a puja, share the devotee's name and intention (sankalpa), and the ritual is performed at Pashupatinath by a priest on your behalf. We confirm the arrangement with you before proceeding. Photos, video or remote participation are available for selected pujas and are agreed in advance.

Early morning aarti offers the quietest darshan, while Maha Shivaratri brings the temple's largest and most vivid gathering of the year. Our travel guide breaks down timing for every season.

Only Hindus may enter the main temple's inner sanctum, though the outer premises, ghats, and surrounding complex are open to all visitors. Our darshan guide explains what non-Hindu visitors can see and where.

Modest, respectful clothing is expected — shoulders and knees covered. Leather items are restricted in some inner areas; our Darshan & Visitor Information guide has the full dress code.

Yes — the Maha Aarti Sponsorship option lets you dedicate the evening lamp offering in a family member's name, with a certificate and recording sent afterward.

If a scheduling conflict arises on the temple side, we reschedule at no cost or issue a full refund — whichever you prefer.
